Film (English)

During World War II, Dr. Van de Velde as Medical Director in Bethesda, a small hospital in rural Hoogeveen in the Netherlands, and his medical Staff,  organizing themselves as a resistance group, succeeded in saving numerous lives of Jews, hide-aways, forced labour workers, resistance fighters and crashed airmen, opposing and frustrating German brutality and appalling oppression.

The story is told by eye-witnesses, historians and family of survivors.

It serves as a tribute for a most determined ethical attitude.

Betrayal finally led to his execution at Woeste Hoeve, two months before World War II ended.
